Underwater Filming Services

Here is how this works in practice. We supply pro underwater camera ops for shoots filming beneath the surface in Austria. An underwater operator is a cinematographer first and a diver second: framing, exposure and movement still govern the shot. But they are executed in a housing, against today's, with tight communication and a finite air supply.

Here is the short of it. Our operators are commercially certified divers with film-production experience. They work with cinema-grade housings for ARRI, RED and Sony bodies, underwater lighting tuned for freshwater, and in-water comms that let a director shape the shot from the surface. We crew them onto features, documentaries, commercials and natural-history work, supported by safety divers and dive supervisors, and we handle the logistics from Vienna, Salzburg and the Carinthian lakes region.

Here is the breakdown. Austria is landlocked but exceptionally well supplied with freshwater locations. Each behaves in new ways for a camera. The Salzkammergut lakes — the Hallstätter See, the Wolfgangsee and the Attersee, often cited as Europe's clearest — give great visibility for naturalistic sequences. The Wörthersee in Carinthia warms enough in summer for extended actor work. The Grüner See in Styria is a renowned dive site. And Vienna studio tanks at the Rosenhügel Filmstudios give controlled, temperature-managed conditions when an open lake cannot.

Here is what we have to work with. Alpine and spring-fed water stays cold year-round, so our operators plan thermal protection, drysuit work and battery running with care. Lake and reservoir filming needs site-level permits set up with local and Bundesland authorities. We advise on how underwater unit days fit the ÖFI+ and FISA+ rebates structure.
