The Filmakademie Wien, the film academy of the mdw, feeds tech crew into the industry, and Austria's studio infrastructure, from the historic Rosenhuegel Filmstudios to Filmstadt Wien, supports the work.

Here is what that looks like on the ground. Crew pay and conditions are set by the Kollektivvertrag negotiated through the Fachverband der Film- und Musikwirtschaft within the WKO. Workplace safety, including electrical safety on set, falls under the ArbeitnehmerInnenschutzgesetz. EU freedom of movement lets shoots draw lighting crew from Germany and neighbouring countries. The resulting work supports the shoots recognised at the Oesterreichischer Filmpreis and the Diagonale in Graz.
