Here is how this works in practice. We supply filmmakers who can take an Austrian project from concept through to finished film. Our filmmakers work across documentary, short and feature work, branded content and commercials, often handling directing, shooting and editing as compact, capable units. We brief them on your project, audience and budget, then confirm openings against your schedule.

Austria gives filmmakers an extraordinary canvas — the build style and culture of Vienna, the Baroque centre of Salzburg, the alpine landscapes of Tyrol — within a compact geography that keeps locations within reach. Our filmmakers work fluently in English and German and integrate easily with global and DACH-region shoots.

Here is how the work shapes up. We contract under the Kollektivvertrag terms set by the Fachverband der Film- und Musikwirtschaft within the WKO. Set up the filmmaker with the producer and any wider crew so the project is delivered on schedule and on brief.

Here is the short of it. Austria has a filmmaking culture of real global standing. The country's auteur custom — Michael Haneke, twice a Palme d'Or winner and an Oscar winner for 'Amour'. Stefan Ruzowitzky, whose 'The Counterfeiters' won the Best Foreign Language Film Oscar. Ulrich Seidl, Jessica Hausner and Goetz Spielmann — has made Austrian cinema a respected force at Cannes, Venice and Berlin. That lineage reaches back to the Vienna-born Hollywood masters Fritz Lang, Billy Wilder, Otto Preminger and Fred Zinnemann.

Here is the breakdown. The Filmakademie Wien, the film academy of the mdw where Haneke taught, trains new filmmakers, and the Red Bull Media House and Terra Mater Studios show the country's strength in branded and natural-history filmmaking. The Oesterreichisches Filminstitut and the Filmfonds Wien support production. The OeFI+ and FISA+ 30 percent rebates draw global work. Austrian films are celebrated each year at the Viennale, the Diagonale in Graz and the Oesterreichischer Filmpreis.
