SCENE 01 / LIGHTING MODIFIERS
Lighting Modifiers
Professional light shaping tools for your Austrian production.
Here is how this works in practice. Lighting modifiers shape, diffuse, and control the quality of light on set. Softboxes, scrims, gels, flags, and diffusion frames transform raw fixture output into the nuanced lighting that cinematographers need to create depth, mood, and natural-looking light in any scene.
Here is the short of it. We give access to full lighting modifier packages including diffusion materials, color fix gels, and light-shaping tools. Our team sources these accessories from local suppliers and sets up delivery alongside your lighting fixtures, making sure your grip and electric departments have everything needed on set.

On Location
Lighting modifiers for Austrian productions — softboxes, diffusion frames, flags, reflectors and gels — are supplied from Vienna for both studio control and alpine exterior fill.
Here is how this works in practice. We supply lighting modifiers for shoots across Austria. This includes softboxes and lanterns, diffusion and bounce frames, flags and floppies, reflectors, gel and CTO/CTB sets, and full grip rigging to hang and position them. Core modifier inventory is sourced from Vienna-based rental houses, the centre of Austria's gear-rental market, alongside studio infrastructure including Rosenhügel Filmstudios and Sievering Studios, with large overhead frames ready for builds at Filmstadt Wien.
Here is the breakdown. Our team scopes the modifier package around the lighting design, whether soft, controlled shaping for heritage interiors in the Historic Centre of Vienna or large bounce and negative fill for exteriors across the Wachau Danube valley, and delivers everything inspected and ready alongside the lighting and grip departments.
Here is the short of it. Austria's Central-European four-season climate shapes how modifiers are run on location: the Föhn warm dry alpine wind and exposed high-altitude locations in Tyrol, Salzburg, Carinthia and Vorarlberg make large diffusion and bounce frames act as sails, so our team plans heavy weighting, secure rigging and wind-rated overhead hardware for alpine exteriors on the Grossglockner High Alpine Road or around Sölden in the Ötztal.
Here is the breakdown. Cold December-to-March ski-season shoots also call for handling that accounts for brittle frames and condensation. Non-EU shoots importing modifier and grip kit clear ATA Carnets through Zollamt Österreich, with Vienna Global Airport the main air-cargo gateway and Munich and Zurich feeding shoots by road. Intra-EU gear moves freely with no carnet.
Lighting modifiers carry EU-standard insurance cover. Lighting spend qualifies as Austrian spend under the ÖFI+ and FISA+ 30% rebates.
FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
What softbox brands do you carry?
We stock softboxes from Chimera, DoPchoice, Snapbag, and others in sizes from small on-camera units to large 8x8 and beyond. DoPchoice Snapbags and Snapgrids are specific popular for their speed of setup.
What sizes of diffusion frames do you have?
We carry frames from 4x4 feet through 20x20 feet in many configurations. Standard sizes have 4x4, 6x6, 8x8, 12x12, and 20x20. We stock many diffusion types for each size.
What diffusion materials are available?
We give a full range including 1/4, 1/2, full, and double diffusion, plus grid cloths, muslin, and specialty materials. Each gives different softness and light transmission traits.
Do you provide reflectors and bounce?
Yes, we have shiny boards (mirrors), beadboards, foam core, Griffolyn, and specialty reflective materials. Bounce is key for adding fill and redirecting light, above all on location.
What about flags and negative fill?
We carry complete flag sets including solids, cutters, and nets in all standard sizes. Black materials like duvetyn are ready for negative fill, which is key for creating contrast.
Can you provide large overhead setups?
Yes, we supply complete butterfly and overhead systems including frames, textiles, and all needed rigging. Large overheads are key for soft ambient light on exteriors and large interior spaces.
